Roland DGA, a leader in large-format imaging, has recently introduced two innovative media options to its existing substrate lineup, catering to the needs of print professionals. These new offerings include the SoftSign™ Fabric Banner and HeatSoft™ GLAM heat transfer material.
The SoftSign Fabric Banner (RCM-SSFB) is an extension of Roland DGA’s SoftSign textile range. This heavyweight material is constructed from 100 percent polyester with a durable Oxford weave, making it ideal for a variety of banner and decor applications. It’s compatible with eco-solvent, UV, and resin inks and offers a more premium look and feel compared to standard glossy scrim vinyl banners. This 10-ounce fabric is not only visually appealing but also easy to handle, drapes beautifully, and does not curl when used in retractable banner stands. It’s available in three roll sizes: 20″ x 75′, 30″ x 150′, and 54″ x 150′.
The HeatSoft GLAM (ESM-HTGLM) is a 7.5-mil heat transfer vinyl composed of white polyurethane film with silver sparkle flecks incorporated into the material for a smooth, printable surface. It is equipped with a heat-activated adhesive that allows for application on various fabric types, including cotton, polyester, and poly/cotton blends. Given its thickness and weight, HeatSoft GLAM is best suited for use on thicker fabrics and garments like sweatshirts, denim, aprons, caps, hats, and tote bags. While it can be used on T-shirts, it is recommended for smaller sections or as an accent piece. This media is designed for use with eco-solvent inks, and it is CPSIA certified and Proposition 65 compliant. It is available in two roll sizes: 20″ x 30′ and 30″ x 30′.
Lily Hunter, Senior Product Manager at Roland DGA, highlighted the company’s commitment to customer feedback in the development of the SoftSign Fabric Banner, addressing the demand for an environmentally friendly fabric banner suitable for a wide range of Roland DG printer users, from VersaSTUDIO desktop device owners to TrueVIS large-format customers. She also emphasized the uniqueness of the HeatSoft GLAM heat transfer material, which is sure to add a touch of glamour to various printing projects.
