Bobcat Stadium in Bozeman, Montana, is on the cusp of a thrilling transformation that promises to ignite a fresh game-day fervor. Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT), based in Brookings, South Dakota, has joined forces with Montana State University to orchestrate an audiovisual upgrade, featuring a dazzling LED video display and a tailor-made audio system. This remarkable enhancement is slated to debut in the summer of 2024, poised to electrify football games and other events.
Expressing his enthusiasm, MSU Director of Athletics, Leon Costello, remarked, “We are thrilled to amplify the game-day experience at Bobcat Stadium, enriching both the auditory and visual aspects. This project is set to supercharge the already electric atmosphere at MSU on game days. While we had hoped for an earlier installation, we understand the prevailing market constraints surrounding labor and materials and eagerly anticipate its completion next summer.”
The pièce de résistance of this upgrade is the spectacular end zone LED video display, boasting impressive dimensions of 30 feet in height and 100 feet in width. With a 10-millimeter pixel spacing, it promises unparalleled image clarity and contrast, ensuring an immersive experience for fans throughout Bobcat Stadium.
Moreover, Daktronics’ industry-leading environmental protection ensures that the display will function flawlessly in the rugged Montana outdoors.
The 2023 season is set to mark a significant milestone for Montana State as it celebrates its fiftieth year of play in its existing stadium structure, which was originally unveiled as Reno H. Sales Stadium in 1973. While past renovations, including score and sound updates in 1998 and 2011, have left their mark, the 2024 audiovisual upgrade is poised to catapult Bobcat Stadium into a league of its own, boasting the largest scoreboard in the Big Sky Conference.
Brady Jacobsen, Daktronics Regional Manager, anticipates the upgrade’s profound impact, stating, “Adding to the already captivating game-day experience at Bobcat Stadium, this new installation and video display will elevate fan engagement to unprecedented heights. We take immense pride in being part of this grand project and eagerly anticipate its positive influence on game day.”
The display itself boasts the versatility of variable content zoning, capable of showcasing either a single, large image or multiple content zones, serving up a smorgasbord of live video, instant replays, game statistics, graphics, animations, and sponsorship messages – all poised to captivate audiences throughout events.
