LED Displays at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico
When fans attend baseball games at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, New Mexico, they are greeted by two state-of-the-art LED displays that were meticulously designed, manufactured, and expertly installed by Daktronics (NASDAQ: DAKT) for the Albuquerque Isotopes. These impressive displays were unveiled in late 2022 and have been enhancing the entertainment and information experience for audiences at the ballpark.
“The fan experience at Isotopes Park will now reach unprecedented levels,” declared John Traub, the Vice President and General Manager of the Isotopes. “Of all the improvements we’ve made to the facility over the years, this is by far the most remarkable.”
The centerpiece of this upgrade is the new main video display, one of the largest in minor league baseball, standing at nearly 35 feet in height and stretching 110 feet in width. This display boasts a 15HD pixel layout, ensuring exceptional image clarity and contrast for fans throughout the ballpark. Its capability for variable content zoning allows it to showcase either one large image or multiple zones of content, encompassing live video feeds, instant replays, statistical data, game information, captivating graphics, and sponsorship messages.
Rusty Lenners, a Daktronics Sales Representative, shared his enthusiasm, stating, “With this new technology at Isotopes Park, every event will be elevated with an extra element of excitement, and these LED displays are here to consistently deliver a ‘wow’ factor to the audience.” He also commended the professionalism and cooperation of the Isotopes’ staff throughout the project.
In addition to the main display, there is an out-of-town display that measures nearly 5 feet in height and 51 feet in width. This display features the same 15HD pixel layout and serves to update fans on out-of-town scores and league-wide happenings, ensuring they remain informed about what’s transpiring around the league during the game right in front of them.
Both of these displays are built with industry-leading environmental protection to ensure their seamless operation in the sometimes challenging outdoor conditions of New Mexico.
Daktronics is also set to provide a comprehensive Show Control solution, an industry-leading control system that encompasses display control software, cutting-edge video processing capabilities, data integration, and playback hardware. This comprehensive solution forms a powerful yet user-friendly production system.
The Albuquerque Isotopes are the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies and are part of the Pacific Coast League. As they enter their third decade in Albuquerque, the Isotopes have attracted nearly 11 million fans since their inception and led the PCL in average attendance in 2022. They have consistently ranked among the top ten attendance leaders in Minor League Baseball every year since their establishment. (Fun fact: The team’s fan-chosen nickname was inspired by “The Simpsons” episode “Hungry, Hungry Homer,” which aired during the series’ twelfth season.)
