After several years of dedicated research and development, OrganoClick is proud to announce the launch of an innovative textile waterproofing solution under its OrganoTex brand. This new product boasts world-unique performance, achieved through the application of green chemistry that emulates nature’s innate water-repelling abilities. Notably, it excels in environmental sustainability and technical prowess. The OrganoTex range is characterized by being biobased, biodegradable, and eco-labeled, while entirely free of harmful PFAS, fossil-based plastics, and synthetic waxes.
This groundbreaking technology draws inspiration from the natural fatty acids found in plants, combined with the surface structure of leaves, and incorporates Nobel Prize-winning chemistry, organocatalysis. The lotus leaf, renowned for its 3D structure and exceptional water repellency, serves as a model for this innovation. To achieve this, the patented OrganoClick® technology is employed to effectively bind the natural fatty acids to textile fibers.
The result is a next-generation OrganoTex product line that boasts enhanced water repellency and the ability to withstand more washing cycles. What sets these products apart is their commitment to sustainability – they are biobased and biodegradable and contain no PFAS, fossil-based plastics, or synthetic waxes.
The initial offerings in this range are OrganoTex Wash-In Textile Waterproofing and OrganoTex Spray-On Textile Waterproofing. Both products have earned prestigious environmental certifications, including the Oeko-Tex Eco Passport and USDA BioPreferred Certified Biobased Product labels. Furthermore, they have been thoroughly tested and found to be readily biodegradable, meeting the stringent requirements of the OECD 301F test.
Mårten Hellberg, CEO of OrganoClick, expresses his enthusiasm for this breakthrough, stating, “After more than four years of research and development work, we can finally present this breakthrough in textile impregnation—a world-unique product that combines high performance with biobased, plastic-free, biodegradable, and PFAS-free properties. This innovation aligns perfectly with OrganoClick’s mission to expedite the reduction of plastics and fossil chemicals, contributing to our broader vision of a natural environment free from plastics and toxic chemicals.”
Susanne Karlsson, Sales Manager at OrganoTex, echoes this sentiment, saying, “We are immensely proud to introduce an even better textile waterproofing solution that aligns with our stringent environmental goals. With this product, consumers can maintain and extend the lifespan of their clothing without introducing plastic polymers, fossil-based waxes, or PFAS into the environment. These products set us apart globally and open the path for our ongoing expansion.”
